Welcome to ISKCON Gangasagar: A Monumental Journey of Faith and Heritage
ISKCON Gangasagar Temple is a grand initiative that celebrates Bengal’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy. Located just 750 meters from Lord Kapil Muni Ashram in South 24 Parganas in Sagar Island, West Bengal, this sacred project aims to provide a center for Vedic education, devotion, and community service.
The temple is being constructed in three phases, with an overall budget of ₹75 crores. The first phase, costing ₹30 crores, is progressing swiftly on a 3.5-acre plot allocated by the Government of West Bengal. The temple phase is generously sponsored by the family of Late Govind Saha Gupta. The temple will house the deities of Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra Devi, and Sri Sri Radha-Krishna, along with a cultural auditorium, mahaprasadam counter, Vedic Library and an exhibition narrating the descent of Mother Ganga. So far, 15 intricately designed domes have been completed.
As of March 2025, the final dome construction, interior plastering, and deity altar preparation are in progress. The next steps include marble installations, decorative elements, woodwork, and landscaping, with phase one expected to conclude by mid-2025. A grand inauguration is planned for the year-end of 2025 or first quarter of 2026.
ISKCON Gangasagar is more than a temple on Sagar Island—it is a sanctuary of devotion, spiritual discipline, Vedic wisdom, and selfless service. It stands as a beacon of hope, guided by dedicated souls committed to uplifting humanity and enriching the world. Your support is essential to bringing this vision to life.
