Gangasagar Mela 2026: The opportunity to uphold the Sanatan Dharma
Dear Beloved Devotee and Well-Wisher,
Hare Krishna! May Lord Śrī Krishna and Mother Ganga shower Their blessings upon you. Wishing you and your family a blissful, auspicious, and prosperous New Year 2026.
At the sacred confluence of the Bay of Bengal and Mother Ganga rests Gangasagar Dham—celebrated in the scriptures as a holy tirtha capable of washing away the accumulated sins of innumerable lifetimes.
On the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, millions of sadhus and tirtha-yatris travel long distances—many walking for days, some sleeping under the open sky, others elderly, fragile, hungry, or exhausted. Yet each comes with one deep aspiration: purification of the heart and the hope of receiving the Lord’s mercy.
Scriptures narrate how King Bhagirath brought Mother Ganga to earth to liberate his forefathers, and how Lord Kapila Muni’s tapasya sanctified this holy place. Bathing at Gangasagar on Makar Sankranti is said to grant peace, prosperity, auspiciousness, and liberation.
Across India, the festival appears as Poush Sankranti, Pongal, Lohri, Magh Bihu, Uttarayan, Khichdi, and Pedda Panduga—yet the essence remains universal: charity, compassion, purification, and devotion.
This year, ISKCON Gangasagar is again establishing a devotional seva camp on the banks of Mother Ganga to lovingly serve thousands of pilgrims through:
Thousands arrive weary—often elderly, sick, or barefoot—seeking nourishment, blessings, and spiritual refuge. Your support directly uplifts them with dignity and warmth.
Śāstra declares:
“Tīrtha-kurvanti tīrthāni sādhavaḥ”
—Saintly devotees sanctify the holy places.
Serving the Lord’s devotees is serving the Lord Himself. As Krishna assures (Bhagavad-gītā 9.26):
“Patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ… bhaktyā prayacchati”
Even a simple offering made with devotion is lovingly accepted.
How much more, then, will the Lord accept the seva of feeding and caring for His devotees in His own holy dhām?
To organize the Gangasagar Mela 2026 Seva Camp, we humbly require ₹50 lakhs, which will support:
Each prasādam plate costs ₹30 and includes rice, dal, subji, and pickle/halwa.
Meals are served from early morning until midnight, lovingly prepared by devotees and offered to the Lord.
